New Delhi, 18 April (NNS): The demand of coconut showed uptrend during the wedding season, due to which, the supply of both copra and its powder seems feeble, due to this reason, the prices of coconut powder may not show more downtrend. The prices may gain by Rs 50/100 per 25 kg owing to the high local and the upcountry demand from the confectioners. The prices of coconut powder showed uptrend in the producing markets because there, the supply of coconut showed uptrend in Bihar, Bengal along with all the markets of North India. It is expected that the consumption of dry coconut rose to 5 crore pieces. Now, there is no possibility of more downtrend in the prices because of the higher prices of dry coconut. The new crop of coconut will likely to arrive in Orissa, Karnataka, Kerela, Tamil Nadu along with South India during the month of February, due to which, the market seems feeble, but the consumption showed uptrend during the wedding season, in these circumstances, the prices of coconut powder may not show more downtrend at the current level.
