New Delhi, 31 August (NNS): The poppy seed market has turned sluggish after the recent increment in the prices. The prices of poppy seeds Turkey had recently increased by Rs 50 to Rs 1300/1400 per kg. The new crop began arriving in March and April. Apart from this, increasing arrivals in the mandis have put pressure on prices. Heavy availability of both new-crop and imported stocks has increased supplies in the market. Intermittent rainfall over the past few days and reports of a temporary ceasefire in the Iran war have also weakened the market sentiments. Spot poppy seed prices are likely to remain sluggish during the coming days.
